Philip Joonho Lee is a Korean American artist, rapper, singer, and songwriter. He’s better known by his stage name: Old Chingu. Through his journey in faith, Phil has come to express himself with music. He releases music under the name Old Chingu – “chingu” meaning “friend” in Korean – because being a friend to those in need is one of his many joys in life. Combining this with his musicality, he makes music that stays true to his roots while encouraging his audience to be who they want to be. He is influenced by a variety of artists including J.Cole, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Monte Booker, Donald Glover, Lenny Williams, and more. In growing his personal brand, he wants to impact the world with music that will change cultures by blending Korean, American, and hip-hop influences. His frequent collaborator and best friend, Tyler Parker, produces and mixes a lot of Chingu’s music. Their success with streaming, performing, and merchandise are just a few ways that show how intentional they are with their fans. After years of consistent online presence and streaming, they took a well-needed break and are now preparing for a new season with their music.
